Fiber optic cable is a communication cable consisting of two or more glass or plastic fiber optic cores within a protective cladding covered by a plastic PVC outer sleeve. Signal transmission along internal optical fibers typically uses infrared.

Difference Between Optical Fiber and Cable
First: there are differences in material. Cables use metal materials (mostly copper, aluminum) as conductors; optical fibers use glass fibers as conductors.
Second: there is a difference in the transmission signal. Cables transmit electrical signals. Optical fibers transmit optical signals.
Third: There are differences in the scope of application. Cables are now mostly used for energy transmission and low-end data information transmission (such as telephone). Optical fibers are mostly used for data transmission.
The principle of using the cable: the rated voltage of the cable is equal to or greater than the rated voltage of the network where it is located, and the maximum working voltage of the cable shall not exceed 15% of its rated voltage. In addition to the use of copper core cables in places to be moved or violently vibrated, aluminum core cables are generally used. Cables laid in cable structures should be bare armored cables or aluminum-clad bare plastic sheathed cables. Directly buried cables are armored cables with sheaths or aluminum-clad bare plastic sheathed cables. Heavy-duty rubber-sheathed cables are used for mobile machinery. Corrosive soil is generally not directly buried, otherwise special anti-corrosion layer cables should be used. Corresponding cable jackets should be used in places with corrosive media. When laying cables vertically or where the height difference is large, non-drip cables should be used. When the ambient temperature exceeds 40 ℃, it is not suitable to use rubber insulated cables.
